Alive Inks Film Deal With “Pursuit of Happyness” Exec

February 2008 — Film rights for the acclaimed Same Kind of Different as Me (Thomas Nelson, 2006) have been secured by Mark Clayman, the executive producer of 2006’s megahit, The Pursuit of Happyness, announced Alive Agent Lee Hough, who negotiated the deal. He noted that Clayman has partnered on the adaptation with Ralph Winter, producer of the X-Men movie series. A release date for the film has not been set. Same Kind of Different as Me is the true story of two vastly different men—a dangerous, homeless drifter who grew up picking cotton in virtual slavery and an upscale art dealer–and the gutsy woman with a stubborn dream who changed their lives forever. “The most inspirational and emotionally gripping story of faith, fortitude, and friendship I have ever read,” said Clayman. “It is a powerful example of the healing, restorative power of forgiveness and the transformational, life changing power of unconditional love. Many talk about it; few live it. The people in this story unquestionably do.”
