Stearns Appointed to White House Adivory Council
March 2009 -– Richard Stearns, president of the relief and development organization, World Vision US, and author of the just-released The Hole in Our Gospel has been appointed by President Barack Obama to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, a group of 25 national leaders from the religious, secular, and academic arenas who will advise the White House on faith-based issues. In an interview with the Seattle Times, Stearns describes his agenda “to promote greater awareness that in a significant worldwide economic downturn, faith-based and other community organizations have an indispensable role to play in serving the poor and rebuilding our economy.” — BJ
