Pawlenty Rockets to #1; Book Trailer Lauded in NH

January 25, 2011-Tim Pawlenty’s new book, Courage to Stand, skyrocketed to #1 in nonfiction on the Washington Post’s bestseller list last week, following a media blitz and a whirlwind of appearances, including interviews on ABC’s “The View”, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and a host of other national TV programs.

In related news, his promo video for the book drew raves when he premiered it at last night’s Merrimack County GOP reception in Concord, NH.

“The former two-term governor of Minnesota is on an extended book tour that launched in New York and Washington this month and continued through Colorado, Texas, and the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire,” said his literary agent, Rick Christian, President of Alive.

The Post’s “Book World” columnist Christopher Schoppa said of Pawlenty’s #1 debut: “Folks will be reading it as a measure of the man, no doubt, considering a potential presidential run in 2012.”  The book slotted ahead of other bestsellers such as Decision Points by George W. Bush, which landed in the Post’s #2 position for the week.

Earlier this month, the Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty wrote:  “The tight-fisted, anti-tax Pawlenty was one of but four governors–and the only one from a Democratic state–whose fiscal record won an ‘A’ grade from the libertarian Cato Institute last fall,” noting this has earned him “something starry-eyed fan base in conservative circles.”  A Post op/ed piece also likened the former conservative governor of one of the most liberal states to Ronald Reagan being elected in Sweden.

Despite the increasing buzz, Pawlenty has indicated that he won’t make a decision one way or another about running for higher office until later this Spring.—RC
