Alive Communications Hires Bryan Norman as Lit Agent

Colorado Springs, CO., July 11, 2013 — Bryan Norman, associate publisher at Thomas Nelson, announced today that he is leaving his Nashville post to become an agent with Colorado Springs-based Alive Communications, the nation’s largest, most influential literary agency for faith-based and inspirational authors. Norman will start August 2, and he and his wife Suzanne and children, Miles and Daphne, will relocate to Colorado soon thereafter.

“Bryan is one of the young all-stars in the publishing industry and I am delighted to sign our #1 draft pick,” said Rick Christian, founder and president of Alive. “He is an immense editorial talent with strong leadership and new media skills, and brings to us a network of deep relationships, together with a wealth of spiritual insight and wisdom. He will continue nurturing authors and their ideas from inception to publication, using his many gifts and abilities to help authors flourish.”

Norman worked at Thomas Nelson for nine years after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001 from Belmont University and his Master of Arts degree in 2004 from University of Colorado, Boulder. He interned briefly at NavPress and then quickly climbed the Nelson corporate ladder from associate editor to associate publisher in six years. For the past four years he has led the day-to-day operations of the nonfiction publishing division under Brian Hampton.

“Though I’m sad to leave my friends at Nelson, my family and I anticipate great things in Colorado and look forward to living in the Rockies,” Norman said. “My life as an Alive agent will allow greater focus on two of my key strengths, content development and author relationships. Working for a smaller company will also allow greater flexibility for me as a husband and young father.”

Norman has worked with numerous acclaimed authors and their best-selling books, including John Eldredge (The Way of the Wild Heart, Walking with God, Fathered by God, Knowing the Heart of God); Don Miller (A Million Miles in a Thousand Years); Bob Goff (Love Does); John MacArthur (The Truth War, The Tale of Two Sons, The Jesus You Can’t Ignore, From Ordinary to Extraordinary, Twelve Unlikely Heroes); John Maxwell (Leadership Gold, Put Your Dream to the Test, and Everyone Communicates Few Connect ); Sheila Walsh (Get Off Your Knees and Pray, Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God, The Shelter of God’s Promises, and God Loves Broken People); Robin McGraw (Inside My Heart and What’s Age Got to Do With It?); Brian McLaren (Everything Must Change); Charles Stanley (Landmines in the Path of the Believer and How to Reach Your Full Potential for God ); Charles Swindoll (Great Lives: Jesus, The Owner’s Manual for Christians, and A Life Well Lived), and Erwin McManus (Soul Cravings and Wide Awake). -RC
