Fourteen year old Austin Gutwein is the founder of Hoops of Hope, a non-profit organization that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for AIDS orphans and built a high school and clinic in Zambia.
His story has been featured on Today, NBC Nightly News, Time Magazine for Kids, and many other broadcasts and publications. In April, 2008, during its Final Four pre-game show, CBS Sports broadcast a twelve minute feature narrated by Ashley Judd about Austin and Hoops of Hope.
Austin has also been a keynote speaker at EARCOS Global Issues Network conferences in Luxemburg, China, and an upcoming event in Qatar. He has also spoken at the United States Air Force Academy, the National Youth Ministry Conference, Saddleback Church, as well as numerous churches and conferences across the country. In fall 2008, Austin was a featured speaker at the Women of Faith conferences.
