Denver Moore grew up isolated and uneducated on a Louisiana parish plantation picking cotton as a modern-day slave. He later “stepped up” in life the day he escaped to become a homeless drifter. In a scene torn from the pages of Les Miserables, Denver attempted a robbery for survival. Despite being unsuccessful, Denver turned himself in. And for attempting to steal the change off a bus, he was sentenced to 20 years in America’s most infamous prison, Angola. Denver survived only to become a wreck of a man known to be the most dangerous individual in Ft. Worth’s homeless community. Nobody messed with him. Until, that is, he met a gutsy woman half his size with a stubborn love that changed his life forever. Denver tells his inspirational story in his book, Same Kind of Different as Me.
